How Can Your Target Market Notice Your Brochure

by Austin Bailey

You can see a brochure just about everywhere. You can see one in shopping malls, airports, grocery aisles, terminals, and conventions. They come in different colors and, sometimes, forms and sizes. Sometimes they are overlooked, sometimes passersby pick them up. There are even instances when people pick them up to beat boredom. But whatever reason they have, there is always a brochure ready when you need it.

Brochures, the great ones, must catch the attention of people. There are a lot of other brochures out there that compete with people\’s attention. But the real test of a good brochure doesn\’t just depend on being an attention-grabber, it is when people pick it up from a bevy of other brochures.

That said, you can make your brochure stand out with just a few steps.

The first and most critical step is knowing your target market. Maybe you have created the coolest design you could think of, but will your target market even give that cool design more than a passing glance? Not knowing what your intended market is and what they want and understand will surely be the death of your effort.

Just because a brochure normally has multiple pages, it doesn\’t mean it can look like an entire chapter ripped out from a book. Create a title text that sums up the entire aim. A one-word title in big readable font would be perfect. Just follow it up with an accompanying subtitle that further explains it. Also, keep the info short and to the point on the following pages.

Include your business\’ name and contact details. Of course, the entire purpose of making brochures is to get more customers or to create awareness, so forgetting to include your company\’s information defeats your aim.

The design should not just correspond to your intended readers\’s preference, but to your message as well. Avoid design overkill. Use a uniformed color and font style on every page and stick to a single theme as to not confuse your readers and look unprofessional.

And of course, brochures should be in an eye-catching place where most of your target readers can see. If your brochure is about a store\’s big sale event, it is unlikely that residents from another state would travel for hours just to be able to go to the sale.

The mentioned said methods are just some of the basic ways to consider in getting a brochure to stick out. There are those who would add glimmering texts, and would have them handed out by pretty girls. But follow the basics first before adding some more to ascertain your brochures would be read by your target market.
