Hosting A Fantastic Swimming Party

by Connor Sullivan

Simi Valley swimming pools, at least ones that are located in resident’s backyards, typically are a great setting for holding a children’s party. A Thousand Oaks swimming pool is a great setting too. Chances are, there are a lot of parties in Camarillo and Westlake Village too. In fact, throughout California, residents are enjoying backyard parties more than ever. If your child is having a birthday soon, why not consider throwing a great backyard birthday party. Backyard birthday parties are gaining in popularity as more people are looking for ways to have a great celebration for not a lot of money. Here are several tips for throwing a great backyard birthday party for your child in your very own yard:

Pick a great theme. Choosing a theme will be a big help as you plan and organize. Most party stores carry thematic party favors as well as table clothes, plates, napkins, and so on. Invitations are available with many themes and are a great way to introduce the theme of the party to invitees.

Provide a shelter for guests in case of rain. Backyard parties are great, but occasionally rain can be a hinderance to a fun filled day. Often times, rain showers last only a brief duration, but it is important to have a covered area where guests can congregate if necessary.

Have water accessories and sunscreen for guests. Even though you may specify on your invitations that your party involves water play, there may be some children who come unprepared. Having a selection of water toys available, such as dive sticks, boogie boards, and noodles will give all the kids something to play with while they are in the water. Make sure to have a spot picked out for guests to change in or out of a wet suit.

Have games for the kids. Even if the kids are involved in water play, it is a smart idea to have some structured games prepared for them to engage in. Whether those be water games, corn hole, or familiar favorites such as pin the tail on the donkey is up to you. Host led games are a good idea for keeping kids from too much unsupervised play.

Keep the menu uncomplicated. A nice barbeque is the perfect option for a backyard birthday party. There is limited clean up and just about every kid likes burgers and dogs. Whatever you select for your theme, you can choose foods that coordinate and that are fun to eat.

Have plenty of beverages. Count on everybody to work up a thirst at your outdoor party. Disposable drinks in their own container, such as juice boxes, bottles of water, or cans of soda are good options as they are easy to clean up and liked by everyone. Have plenty of variety and plan on each person drinking more than one beverage.

Pick the right time for your group. Think about the age of your invitees and plan accordingly. If the children are very young, don’t plan your get-together around nap time. Whether you are providing a meal or just providing cake has a lot to do with the time frame as well.

Have a designated gift table. This lets everyone know where to put gifts and keeps gifts from being lost or misplaced.
