Automotive Sales Training Prospecting Ideas

by Mak

It’s important to keep your prospecting techniques as up to date as the vehicles you sell. The advent of the internet was one thing, but with advances in technology, keeping in contact with prospects has never been easier. The question is are you taking advantage of these updates? Are you blogging? Texting? Do you use email to communicate with your prospects?

Automotive Salesmen Tip One: Using Email Admittedly, email has been around for a long time, but do you use it to contact prospective sales? Use email when communicating with prospects in a couple of different ways: 1. Use mass emails to send out marketing materials. Whether your dealership has invested in an email list or you have created one yourself, mass emails are a great way to get new information out to a lot of people. 2. Use targeted emails to set up appointments. Once you have someone on the line, email is a great way to set-up appointments. 3. Follow up through emails. Once you have met with a prospect, send them an email to thank them for their time or provide further information.

Automotive Salesmen Tip Two: Using Text Messages Some doctor’s offices now send out text messages to remind you of an upcoming appointment. Why not do the same with your prospects? A quick text message to them to remind them of an upcoming meeting is a fast way to keep in touch. You can also send out targeted texts to prospects about sales or other promotional events. Text messaging is quickly becoming an important part of doing business today.

Automotive Salesmen Tip Three: Host a Website In spite of the obvious success of the internet, not everyone has jumped on the bandwagon. Every company should have a website that has marketing materials specific to their target clients and that includes automotive salesmen. The possibilities here are actually endless.

Automotive Salesmen Tip Four: Blog It Almost everyone is familiar with the concept of the blog. People use them to journal their personal life or discuss current events. There is another use for the blog though. You can have a blog dedicated to your business. Updating it frequently and linking to your dealerships website is a great way to let prospects get to know you and your product. It’s a great jumping off point for building rapport and confidence.

Cut the time you spend trying to contact prospects in half through the effective use of current technology.
